On 25 March 2011 the US Department of Justice (DoJ) released a telegram to the APPG in response to its Freedom of Information requests on rendition. The March 2003 telegram, from then German Minister Otto Schily to John Ashcroft in the US Administration, congratulated him on the detention of Khalid Sheikh Mohamed.
