The Court of Appeals ruled that state immunity does not bar Abdul Hakim Belhaj's case for damages against the UK Government for its alleged role in his rendition to Libya.  The Government previously argued that allowing the case to proceed would damage international relations, an argument that the Court has rejected.  More can be read here and here.

Yunus Rahmatullah was detained and mistreated in Iraq by UK forces in 2004.  The Pakistani citizen was handed to US troops and subsequently rendered to Bagram in Afghanistan, where he was held for 10 years.  He has brought claims against the UK Government for its alleged role in his detention and mistreatment by UK personnel.  More can be read here and here.

According to the Foreign Office records, Diego Garcia received 3.25 inches of rain in the month of June, compared to an average of 5.4 inches of rain.  In response to a parliamentary question asked by Andrew Tyrie and Paul Flynn in July, the Foreign Office responded that Diego Garcia flight records had been water damaged due to 'extremely heavy weather in June 2014'.  More can be read here.
